Bereavement · Counseling Program - Loss and Grief

Loss is a natural part of life and living. Loss/grief is often accompanied with intense emotions, stress and change. Due to this, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice offers professional services to give comfort and facilitate growth as one adjusts to life after a loss. The primary focus of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice counseling program is to assist individuals:
  • Examine and identify normal and complicated reactions to loss.
  • Identify and express feelings associated with the loss.
  • Facilitate one's ability to live beyond the loss.
  • Transform the pain of loss into a renewed hope for living.
A vital part of the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice approach to counseling is that our social workers are highly trained to do a thorough loss assessment, create a professional plan of care and provide appropriate interventions. Our counseling program offers the following services:
  • Individual, child, adolescent and family counseling/therapy
  • Psychoeducational Groups - Seasons of the Heart is a weekly series for adults designed to give information about grief and loss, provide healthy ways to mourn, and to find support and hope.
  • Practical workshops to develop new skills necessary to cope with life without the deceased.
