Volunteer Opportunities

PATIENT AND FAMILY SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS

• Visit and be present with a patient and/or family member

• Give hand massage to comfort patients or relax caregivers

• Help patients review special memories

• Read to patients; bring music to patients

• Give caregivers a chance for some time for themselves

 

PET THERAPY VOLUNTEERS

• Certified pets and their trainers can visit patients and families in homes and in long term care facilities.

 

COMFORT CROSSING VOLUNTEERS

• Provide presence and comfort to our patients and families at the very end of life

 

GRIEF COMPANION VOLUNTEERS

• Visit by phone or in person with bereaved following the death of their loved one

 

RECEPTION VOLUNTEERS

• Provide and/or serve snacks and beverages at events for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

 

MEMORY GARDEN

• Help with the garden by planting, watering, weeding, picking up trash, etc.

• Great opportunity for groups

 

HOSPICE CENTER (WICHITA)

• Welcome visitors to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at Via Christi-St. Francis

• Assist staff, patients, families, and visitors

• Bake cookies and casseroles

 

PHARMACY DELIVERY VOLUNTEERS (WICHITA)

• Deliver medications to patients

 

STAFF SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS

• Help with various office assignments

 

AMBASSADOR AND SPEAKER’S BUREAU VOLUNTEERS

• Staff information booths at fairs

• Present Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice information to groups

 

Training for each type of volunteer service is determined based upon the skills and knowledge needed for that service. Volunteers determine how much time they can provide. For more information contact your local volunteer coordinators.
